About Us

St. Matthias Lutheran Preschool started over 20 years ago as a Mother's Morning Out Program, or "PALS." Over the past two decades, St. Matthias has grown and has been recognized in the community as a loving church family opening its doors and hearts to the children of the Easley SC area.
Today, St. Matthias is excited to open its doors as a faith based preschool devoted to children. Our preschool offers a unique educational setting that allows children to "take the reigns" of their learning. We adhere to all National Early Childhood Education standards and use the Highscope Curriculum, ABC's of the Bible, Zoophonics, Character Training with Verses and Virtues, Project Read, learning pods, and many more teacher and director created curriculum in our school. We realize that all children learn through different methods and styles.  So, that is why we believe it is important to incorporate many different curriculum types into our preschool day in order for all of our learners to reach their highest potential. We work with children on their individual levels and know that each child will succeed and reach his/her maximum potential while with us.
We truly believe in the words of John Dewey "a child's work is play." We offer children the opportunity to PLAY WITH A PURPOSE. We have adopted a center based learning curriculum and will feature weekly/biweekly Curriculum Theme Units as well as daily activity classes: Storytime Theater, Artist's Canvas, P.E. and Music.

Our purpose is to provide the highest quality preschool education in a secure, nurturing and stimulating environment. St. Matthias Preschool will  serve the physical, emotional and intellectual needs of the preschool children and their families.

We meet these goals with our age-appropriate curriculum, our highly qualified staff, age appropriate equipment, the highest standards of cleanliness, and our ongoing communication with parents.

All of the dedicated, caring staff at St. Matthias want to be certain that your child has the very best early childhood experience possible. We want to thank you for entrusting us with that privilege and responsibility.

School Philosophy

It is a mission of the St. Matthias Preschool to provide a fully integrated preschool program to foster the child's social and emotional growth as well as their physical and mental development. Additionally, our sequential learning curriculum was developed to prepare the child for academics in kindergarten and elementary school.

The goal of the preschool is to guide each child in the growth of their total personality. Areas related to physical, mental, emotional and social development are all given equal attention when preparing a curriculum to fit the needs of each child. A child's self expression, creativity and analytical thinking are worked out in play. Through observations, the teacher may help a child succeed in areas where they do not excel. The teachers strive to aid each child in developing a positive image of them self.
